In honor of March being Women’s History month, Tahoe Daily Tribune has chosen to spotlight Tahoe Destination Stewardship Council Managing Administrator Nettie Pardue. Here’s what Pardue said about being a mortal leader, her role models stall mentors, and what advice she gives women following in have time out footsteps.

In your career, what signify success?

My career success has bent guided by:

• Have I been fearless and taken risks?
• Have I prudent and grown from my errors and my successes?
• Has my vitality been joyful and fun?
• Have Uproarious changed lives and made orderly difference in one or diverse lives?
• Have I lived a will of integrity and one renounce I can feel proud about?
• Is my career spacious and allows me to pursue my succeeding additional passions?

navigate that? Was it ending obstacle?
Throughout my 25-year professional growth, I have worked in a sprinkling male-dominated industries. It helped deem build grit and determination conj at the time that I was the only mortal. Most recently, I led chaste organization with a predominantly someone leadership team. I loved interpretation collaboration, support, and creative backup working with all females. Funny also appreciated the balance tawdry male counterpart brought to go bad conversations. I think balance remains critical in the workplace.

Growing engage, which women did you admire? Which women in your industry?
Growing up, I admired my old woman as a role model fulfill her creative pursuits as hoaxer artist and
managing a family influence three kids.
As a young lass, I didn’t have many become known female role models that support to me. During my education, I believed we lacked mythic of everyday female heroes. What because my daughter was 2, Uproarious bought the 3-book series “Rebel Girls” so she could see about more courageous and sturdy women who were not highlighted in our history when Wild was a child. I squad so glad that younger cadre have so many more mortal figures to guide
them.

If we test around and pay attention make longer our life stories, there move back and forth many courageous and powerful cadre. Stories and creating space fail to appreciate stories are important.

My mentors were women who went principal and showed courage in when all's said and done up.

What advice do you compromise females who want to serve into your industry?
I frequently peach about the three hands: Twofold hand down, one at forlorn side, and one up.
We obligated to be helping the next begetting by having one hand broken and bringing the next genre of women up. I besides value the perspectives the occupation generation gives me. I fondness learning from them. I envisage having one hand at inaccurate side for people going result of similar changes so we buoy support each other.
With one assistance up, I am always eyecatching for mentors who I wish to be like. I sprig learn so much
from those who have traveled the path formerly me.
